Skeleton frame

Here you can see the chassis after being streched by 0.75 metres to a wheel base of 4.5 metres, 0.25 metres longer than the standard unit available from Mercedes. The maximum allowed overhang is 60% of the wheel base length, so the approximate overall finished length will be 8 metres.

The skeleton frame chassis followers are made from 4" x 2" steel box, cross members made from 2" square box. Note the chassis followers are level and do not follow the bend in the chassis at the rear axel position.

The original prop shaft has been stretched using a heavier duty tube, it can be seen laying on the floor prior to refitting. A standard length Mercedes brake cable was fitted to maintain parts availability, the skeleton will be removed before painting
